Just days after defenseman Ryan Murphy signed a deal with the Carolina Hurricanes, another member of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft class has followed suit.
The Philadelphia Flyers have signed centre Sean Couturier, the club’s eighth overall pick from June.
The six-foot-four, 191-pound forward is regarded as one of the most NHL-ready prospects from the 2011 draft.
Couturier put up back-to-back 96 point seasons with the Drummondville Voltigeurs and represented Canada at the 2011 World Junior Championship in Buffalo, helping his nation to a silver medal.
Couturier joins Murphy, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Gabriel Landeskog, Adam Larsson, Mika Zibanejad, Jonas Brodin, Duncan Siemens, Sven Bartschi, JT Miller and Marcel Noebels as players from the 2011 draft class to sign.
