RNH retains top spot in February ranking

From Dan Stewart:

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins is still top dog.

For a second consecutive month, the Red Deer Rebels centre has landed a top Future Considerations’ ranking for the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

After major shuffling to the top-5 last month, including Nugent-Hopkins unseating Drummondville Voltigeurs forward Sean Couturier for the first time this season, there are no changes among the top prospects in February. Couturier holds steady behind Nugent-Hopkins, while Swedes Adam Larsson and Gabriel Landeskog and Niagara IceDogs defensemen Dougie Hamilton round out the first five.

Jonathan Huberdeau rises one spot to six while Kitchener Rangers defenseman Ryan Murphy drops to seventh. Ryan Strome, Nathan Beaulieu and Duncan Siemens round out the top-10.

The United States Development Program has seen a pair of players on the rise as well. John Gibson, the top goaltender available in the draft, rose from 28th overall to 19th, while right winger Tyler Biggs is jumped five spots to 17th.

RNH no lock for the National Hockey League next season

The biggest move belonged to Swedish defenseman Jonas Brodin. Ranked 43rd last month, Brodin has jumped into the first round and is currently ranked 29th.

Other hot movers include Swede Mika Zibanejad, rising six spots to 18 and Russian Vladislav Namestnikov soaring eight spots to 22.

Victor Rask fell nine spots to 30 while Plymouth Whaler Rickard Rackell dropped six spots, falling out of the first round.

You would think could spell Stefan Noesen’s name correctly. Also, keep an eye out as Noesen will move up into the late first early second area.

Armia is definitely having a great season no doubt about it. He is our highest Finn and third highest Euro.

Joel Armia (first round @ 14th) should been drafted in top 5. He’s breaking some rookie records in Finnish top hockey league SM-Liiga and that’s first time since Teemu Selanne in season 1991-1992. Check Armias moves from YouTube, amazing hands and world class shooting skills.
