From Aaron Vickers:

Make it 10.

A day after the Western Hockey League suspended Kamloops Blazers sniper Brendan Ranford six games for abusing an official, the Ontario Hockey League handed down a 10 bout ban to Tim Billingsley of the Niagara IceDogs for his hit on Ottawa 67s forward Shane Prince March 11th.

Billingsley wasn’t penalized on the play.

Prince, who is ranked 43rd overall by Future Considerations for the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, was diagnosed with a minor concussion and whiplash. The concussion didn’t come from the hit itself, but when Prince’s helmet came off, allowing his head to strike the ice.

“I’ve seen it numerous times and there’s no excuse: it was a check to the head,” Prince told the Ottawa Citizen Tuesday. “Now, I can’t know what he was thinking. I definitely was making a dangerous play cutting across the ice. … I put myself out there. And I realize he was only doing his job and maybe he didn’t mean to hit me the way he did. Maybe there was nothing intentional to hit me in the head.

“But he did come up and that’s why he got me in the face. If we ever play him again, it’s something I’m going to remember.”

Prince is expected back for the start of the playoffs.
