The 11th ranked Duncan Siemens will not be taken until after the 15th pick, if Twitter is right.

When polled on which half of the opening round of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft Siemens will be selected in, the Twitterverse was clear teams should wait on selecting the Sherwood Park, AB. native.

A hard hitter who patterns his game after New Jersey Devils legend Scott Stevens, Siemens also had an impressive 38 assists and 43 points while playing in all 72 games for the Saskatoon Blades this year. Still, many call into question the offensive ability of the six-foot-three, 190-pound defender after being surrounded with the Western Hockey League’s top offense.

“I think he goes later,” tweeted @beakermania. “Teams are starting to realize he doesn’t actually have the offence that his stats might suggest.”

While he didn’t question Siemens’ ability with the puck, another wondered about the character of Siemens, who relinquished his assistant captaincy to returning teammate Stefan Elliott in September.

“I’d say it’s likely he goes top-15, but he’s got a pretty iffy attitude.” @byz_ tweeted.

Will Siemens be the defenseman who falls in 2011? The answer will come in 11 days.
