The Carolina Hurricanes announced Wednesday that Victor Rask has been returned to the Calgary Hitmen of the WHL.
Rask, the club’s second round pick from the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, was Calgary’s first pick, third overall in the CHL’s Import Draft.
The six-foot-one, 192-pound Swedish centre scored five goals and earned 11 points while playing in 37 games with Leksand of Sweden’s second professional division last season.
He also helped Sweden win silver at the 2011 World Under-18 Championship, scoring twice and adding three assists.
Defenseman Ryan Murphy, Carolina’s top pick in 2011, remains in camp.
Rask is expected to play an integral part of the offense with the Hitmen, who finished last in the Western Hockey League standings last season.
