The San Jose Sharks announced yesterday that Michael Sgarbossa has been returned to the Ontario Hockey League’s Sudbury Wolves.
The Campbellville, ON. native was signed as an unrestricted free agent by the Sharks last September.
The 5-foot-11, 175-pound forward had 36 goals and 82 points in 63 games last season to lead the Wolves in scoring.
The 19 year-old Sgarbossa had yet to play an exhibition game for San Jose this year and was a healthy scratch for last nights 6-1 victory over the Anaheim Ducks.
Sgarbossa spent 2008 and 2009 with the Barrie Colts. He then played for the Saginaw Spirit for half of the 2009-10 season.
After the first half of the 2010-11 season he was acquired by Sudbury in a trade that saw John McFarland and defenseman Ben Chiarot sent to Saginaw in exchange for Sgarbossa, forward Alex Racino and defenseman Frank Schumacher.
Sgarbossa is expected to be a big part of the Wolves offence this season as it will be his final season in the OHL.
