The Colorado Avalanche have returned defenseman Duncan Siemens to the Saskatoon Blades of the WHL.
The move came after the Avalanche dropped a preseason contest 3-2 to the St. Louis Blues. The Sherwood Park, AB. native was pointless in nearly 19 minutes of action but was named the game’s third star.
Siemens, selected in the first round, 11th overall in June’s NHL Entry Draft, 38 assists and 43 points in 72 games with the Blades last year. He also had 121 penalty minutes.
The rugged blueliner is expected to wear a letter upon his return to Saskatoon’s lineup. He was voted as an assistant last year, but gave it up after fellow Avalanche prospect Stefan Elliott returned to the club.
Earlier today, Colorado returned goaltender Calvin Pickard to the Seattle Thunderbirds.
