There will be no Swift Current reunion for Steffen Soberg.

The sixth overall pick in the CHL Import Draft will not be returning to the Broncos after leaving North America to return home.

Soberg told Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet.no as translated by Hockeyramblings, he would not be returning to Mark Lamb and the Swift Current Broncos, despite some optimism from the club’s head coach and general manager.

“Yeah, maybe he is hoping for that, but deep down inside I think he knows that I’m not coming back,” Soberg told the outlet. “I just don’t feel like I’m ready to move that far away on my own just yet.” Continue reading

Import goaltender Steffen Soberg has headed home.

The sixth overall pick in the 2011 CHL Import Draft, Soberg was expected to tend the twine of the Swift Current Broncos for the upcoming season. In fact, the fourth round pick in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft even participated in a preseason tournament for the Broncos before leaving for Washington Capitals rookie camp. Continue reading



Orlov lands in the land of chocolate

Dmitri Orlov has touched down in the land of chocolate.

According to Dmitri Chesnekov, the Washington Capitals prospect has popped up in Hershey, the home of their AHL affiliate. Chesnekov reported via Twitter that the Russian prospect is in North America and is reporting to the Hershey Bears.

Leaving his Kontinental Hockey League club Metallurg Novokuznetsk before the end of the season wasn’t a difficult choice for the 55th overall pick in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. Continue reading
