The Winnipeg Jets have selected Mark Scheifele of the Barrie Colts with the seventh overall pick in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

Much like Mark McNeill, Scheifele is a centre that can contribute in all three zones on the ice. Where Shceifele excels is with his long, powerful skating stride which compliments his six-foot-two, 185-pound frame. Continue reading

The Atlanta Thrashers are keeping 18-year-old forward Alexander Burmistrov.

The eighth overall in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft in June will play in his tenth game of the season, kicking in the first year of his three year entry-level contract and all but securing a spot in Atlanta’s lineup for the duration of the season. Continue reading
