Trouba commits to Michigan

The 2012 draft eligible defenseman took to twitter to announce he has committed to the University of Michigan hockey program headed by Red Berenson.

WHL player enters guilty plea in fatal accident

A 17-year-old major junior hockey player admitted he was at the wheel when he lost control of the vehicle which rolled and killed its female passenger in an accident just outside Cochrane last April.

The 2011 NHL Entry Draft eligible pleaded guilty via his lawyer, Tim Foster, to dangerous driving causing the death of 18-year-old Regina, SK. native Emily Matthewson. Continue reading

After a few days at the rink, the NHL’s Research and Development camp served as an excellent opportunity at a first hand look at quite a few of the top prospects for the 2012 NHL Entry Draft before the season gets underway.

And what a look!

Although he started off a bit slowly, I was really impressed with how Red Deer Rebels defenseman Matt Dumba turned it up towards the end of the first day. One, he really stepped up his game and delivered some strong two-way play. I thought his instincts with the puck were great and on the other end, didn’t hesitate to catch a few forwards with his head down. He reminds me a lot of P.K. Subban with a higher upside. Marcantuoni putting many miles on draft journey

From Calgary to Breclav to Toronto, it’s been a well-traveled start to Matia Marcantuoni’s draft journey.

The Kitchener Rangers forward was successful in his bid to join Hockey Canada’s entry into the 2011 Ivan Hlinka Memorial in the Czech Republic. Days after returning home with a gold medal, the Toronto, ON. native headed to the NHL’s Research and Development Camp as one of 36 draft eligible invitees. Continue reading
