Tomas Jurco will get the opportunity to defend his Memorial Cup.
The Saint John Sea Dogs standout was returned to junior by the Detroit Red Wings Friday night.
Jurco, Detroit’s first pick, 35th overall in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, had 31 goals and 56 points in 60 games with the Sea Dogs. In Saint John’s march to the QMJHL title, Jurco had six goals and 18 points. He added four goals and five points in helping the QMJHL club capture the Memorial Cup. Continue reading
The Colorado Avalanche have returned defenseman Duncan Siemens to the Saskatoon Blades of the WHL.
The move came after the Avalanche dropped a preseason contest 3-2 to the St. Louis Blues. The Sherwood Park, AB. native was pointless in nearly 19 minutes of action but was named the game’s third star.
Siemens, selected in the first round, 11th overall in June’s NHL Entry Draft, 38 assists and 43 points in 72 games with the Blades last year. He also had 121 penalty minutes.
The rugged blueliner is expected to wear a letter upon his return to Saskatoon’s lineup. He was voted as an assistant last year, but gave it up after fellow Avalanche prospect Stefan Elliott returned to the club. Continue reading

Jensen, selected 29th overall in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, has been signed to an entry-level contract by the Vancouver Canucks after recording two points in his preseason debut Thursday. Continue reading

Tampa Bay Lightning announced the signing of Moncton Wildcats defenseman Daniel Milan to a three-year, two-waycontract Friday.
The six-foot-three, 194-pound blueliner had 14 goals and 38 points last season. Hew as the Wildcats top scoring defenseman and also led the QMJHL in points among rookie defenseman. Continue reading
