JT Miller is bound for Plymouth.

New York Rangers first round pick has reneged on his commitment to the University of North Dakota, instead opting to take his game to the Ontario Hockey League.

The Whalers hold Miller’s rights, who was selected 15th overall in June’s NHL Entry Draft. Whalers’ Stefan Noesen (Ottawa, 21) and Rickard Rickell (Anaheim, 30) were also drafted in the first round this year. Continue reading

Ducks select Rackell 30th in 2011 NHL Entry Draft

With the final pick of the first round in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, the Anaheim Ducks have selected Plymouth Whalers forward Rickard Rakell.

The Sollentuna, SWE. native plays larger than his six-foot, 190-pound frame would suggest. An agitator who isn’t afraid to throw his weight around, Rackell also possesses good, but unspectacular offensive talent. Where he shines offensively is his willingness to go into high traffic areas and spots that he can battle, both for the puck and position. Continue reading
